It would have been hard to find a busier exhibition timeslot than what we had for our recent show at the Studio Gallery : 17-23 December. Yet, despite the hectic time of the year, our exhibition was wonderfully received with many visitors and positive feedback.
The Hanging
Thursday 17 December was our hanging day. Given that the hanging system worked fine and that we were promised that the lighting would be adjusted – it was, all in all, a relaxed and fun day.
A most helpful man at the framing shop up the road helped us solve two small glitches, which ensured that all our works could be hung properly. Helen completed the picture (no pun intended) by fetching a spirit level so we could hang everything in a straight line …
While it does take time to hang an exhibition, it is exciting to see everything come together. Once the artworks are on the wall, they are in many ways viewed properly for the first time. Time for a coffee to take it all in 🙂
The Opening
Our Saturday afternoon opening was perfect. A special big thank you to Tom for taking care of refreshments for all our visitors; he ran the bar like a true champion 🙂
Thank you also to our visitors, both for coming along to the show and for the many fascinating conversations had on the day.
Over 300 people visited the show. Along with the many heart-warming comments and artworks finding new homes, the exhibition was a most positive note to end the year on.
Looking Forward
We are now in preparation for Water Lines – part II, which will be shown at the CStudios Art Gallery in Newcastle (in April). Part II will include some of the works exhibited at Gosford, along with artwork created specifically for the upcoming show.
